What does iCare do?
Through personal funding, donations and solicitation of corporations, we collect basic products of hygiene in order to create iCare packages. iCare is a registered Non-Profit Organization (see Articles of Incorporation which have been scanned under the Photos tab).
With the help of volunteers, the packages are assembled and distributed to underserved communities. Every package contains hand-sanitizing wipes, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, toothpaste, and a toothbrush. These are essential products to promote cleanliness and prevent spread of disease. The amount of packages we are able to make relies entirely on donations.
iCare is partnering with domestic and international organizations to promote good hygiene. We are working with the Tyre Charitable Association to distribute iCare packages to the Syrian and Iraqi Refugee camps in Southern Lebanon, Project Downtown to the homeless in the South Florida, and the Medical Students in Action who handed out iCare packages on their annual medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic. Our goal is to partner with additional organizations and community projects to distribute iCare packages.

Why is hygiene important?
Personal hygiene can prevent the diagnosis and spread of disease . It impacts other’s view of a person as well as their personal appearance. As common as it is to most of us, not everyone has this luxury. Many of our underserved populations don’t have access to simple tools that maintain our hygiene such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, and soap.
- Researchers estimate that if everyone routinely washed their hands, a million deaths a year could be prevented (CDC, 2013)
- 80% of transmittable diseases are transferred by touch (CDC, 2013)
- In China, distribution of soap in primary schools resulted in 54% fewer sick days (UNICEF)
- 33% of the world’s population don’t practice any sort of hand hygiene (CDC, 2014)
